Character
Education
Although it is important students receive a good education in
academics, it is equally essential that character education be addressed
as well. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “The function of education is to teach
one to think intensively and to think critically. Intelligence plus character
- that is the goal of true education.” True education is what students in
Galena Park ISD receive.
Each month, a character trait is presented to the students of GPISD. The
school faculty exemplifies the monthly trait while teachers integrate
character education into lessons. Students should focus on the monthly
trait in their school and home life. The character traits our students and
faculty will focus on this year are:
August/September Citizenship
October Compassion & Tolerance
November Fairness
December Honesty & Integrity
January Perseverance
February Responsibility CHARACTER
March Respect
April Self-Discipline
INTELLIGENCE PLUS CHARACTER
May/June Trustworthiness THAT IS THE GOAL OF TRUE EDUCATION
