urricane Harvey devastated the
Galena Park ISD community and
Hcreated extreme hardship for area
citizens. Bill Manahan, a 1967 graduate of
Galena Park High School and long-time
resident, was faced with the destruction
brought about by the storm.
Upon hearing of the challenges faced by
Mr. Manahan, district employee, Bryan
Clements, marshalled a dozen Galena
Park High School athletes and coaches to
assist with the task of removing items from
the home and cleaning the debris.
We are proud of our Galena Park ISD
students and the example of service they
showed as our community dealt with the
storms of life.

HELPING HANDS PERFECT PLANS
n December 12 and 13, CommUNITY Church in Virginia and Sterling Wood Church in Houston
came together to deliver an early Christmas present to elementary students who were affected by
OHurricane Harvey.
CommUNITY Church
donated hundreds of
bikes to students, and
with the help of Sterling
Wood Church, they were
assembled and delivered
to each of our elementary
campuses!
The students were so
excited to receive their
new bikes and some even
took them on a joy ride
around the gym!
Thank you so much,
CommUNITY Church and
Sterling Wood Church!
